Major:English Language and Literature
Subject:EnglishLevel:All levels
Subject:SportLevel:University(Year 2)
Subject:HistoryLevel:University(Year 1)
Tutoring Experience:
As a big brother to my two younger sisters it was almost required of me to help out whenever I was needed. In that regard I have experience as a tutor for nearly 10 years but more recently I was employed as an "In-class tutor" for the Niagara District Catholic School Board. For nearly 5 months (Jan-May 2010) I helped students from grades K-8 with learning and behavioral barriers. I would aid in homework assignments and reinforce learning practices. I reported to teachers and the principal on a weekly basis.

At the university level I would be constantly asked to edit and aid fellow students with their essays and written assignments. This led me to Brock University Creative Writers Anthology club, to which I was a co-editor.
Description:
As I have said above, I was employed by an actual school board back in Canada for nearly half of a year. I work primarily in English and my style very simple; reinforce lessons and advance thought. I am very willing help with homework assignments but also willing to create my own lessons to really help students grasp what they wish to learn.

Being as how I used to involve myself in the theatre I feel that my outgoing personality and passion for learning and especially the arts really aids students. I am a very patient and understanding individual being more than willing to work with any age group.

Education Level:Bachelor Degree
Institute:Coventry University
Major:Mathematics
Subject:MathsLevel:Primary
Subject:MathsLevel:Secondary(Form 3-5)
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught mathematics in a secondary school for the last two years in England as a fully qualified teacher of mathematics.

I have been privately tutoring maths for six years.
Description:
I have a British PGCE and NQT and am a teacher of mathematics. I have taught students from the ages of 11 to 18. I hold a degree in mathematics - B.Sc (hons)

I am more than happy to travel to the students home to provide a tutorial.
For our first session, I would like to know roughly the students weak areas, areas they would like to develop and any examinations or testing that may be due to come up. This will make it much easier to set ourselves some targets.

I will leave a sheet of 'homework' for the next tutorial. This sheet will need no longer than 40 minutes spent on it.

I am from England and fluent in English.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Tutoring Experience:
35 plus years of experience as a guitar teacher / music theory tutor.
Description:
I started playing guitar at the age of 16, obtaining training through the guitar school of Vox Humana and soon after that private lessons via Pieter Gaspersz now owner of Guitarodam. After high school guitar at the Rotterdam Conservatory, now known as the Codarts. I had the honor and pleasure to study there with Klaus Flenter, a well renowned jazz guitar player and had masterclasses with the famous Joe Pass, John Scofield, Michael Brecker, Ray Brown, Stochelo Roseneberg, Garrison Fewell and others.

I stepped away from the guitar temporarily and switched to Erasmus University in Rotterdam Netherlands to study law. While working as a student assistant for the Dean of the University I became involved in in training prison guards and in a law enforcement career as strategic crime intelligence analyst. From there on a corporate career followed.

Despite pursuing a career in the corporate world, music has always stayed a parallel career, as a musician and tutor running a private practice of up to 36 (1/hr a week) students. Students have ended up on the the different conservatories in the Netherlands and other European countries, as well as the GIT (Guitar Institute of Technology) and Berklee in the USA.

Over the years I have been playing as a free lance guitarist an recording with (smaller) bands as well as playing in a wide range of bands and jazz ensembles in the Netherlands and New Zealand. Styles I am proficient in cover anything but classical music (both electric and acoustic). In New Zealand I have been playing in various settings, solo guitar, duo settings and larger groups and as a member of the music team at Harmony Church.

Price Range:$20-30 per hour
Education Level:College
Institute:McGill University
Major:History
Subject:EnglishLevel:All levels
Subject:FrenchLevel:Secondary(Form 6-7)
Subject:HistoryLevel:All levels
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught English and French at Camp La Grande Aventure in Quebec, Canada during summer seasons. This included children from age 8 through 17, which has provided me with many opportunities to cater to a wide range of experience levels. Being a registered childcare provider and operator of a home daycare in Montreal for numerous years has given me ample opportunity to aid young individuals in furthering their intellectual development, as well as tutoring high school students beginning in the year 2002. Being a writer I have a particular interest in teaching English, among other subjects. I have also had poetry pieces published overseas.
Description:
I greatly enjoy one-on-one tutoring and discussions, but feel that lecturing, case study methods, discussions, interactive learning, cooperative learning all have good merit. I believe in each individual having individual learning needs, and endeavour to make a tutorial session fun, and something to look forward to. It is not uncommon that I feel compelled to instruct on a topic until a full understanding is reached, as I feel equally invested as students are in reaching a thorough understanding of the material at hand.

I can offer my place of residence or a public place such as a library for tutorial settings.

Thank you!

Major:Music
Subject:MusicLevel:All levels
Tutoring Experience:
Philip began his career as a teacher while a graduate student, and coached his students to success in regional competitions and solo performances. In fact, his students maintained a 100% success rate when auditioning for their regional honor band. Philip also put his English minor (earned during his time at Baylor) to use by teaching reading skills to students in the Kumon Learning Center in Houston, Texas.

After graduating from Rice University in 2006 with his Master of Music degree, Philip was added to the faculty of the Barthelmes Conservatory in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he developed a clarinet curriculum in an institution that had previously only offered tuition in piano, strings, and percussion. At the Conservatory, Philip taught under-privileged students from the Tulsa metropolitan area whose talents merited full scholarships. Philip also taught private students from the Tulsa area, and those students continued his legacy in his hometown with a 100% acceptance rate into the Oklahoma Music Educators Association all-state honor band and orchestra. Philip also coached the clarinet section for Union High School.
Description:
I offer tuition in clarinet and recorder.

My primary aim in teaching is to make music enjoyable and accessible for my students. Whether she be a brand-new beginner or in preparation for her graduate school auditions, I want to enable her to make the best music that she can and to accomplish whatever goals she has. Seeing the pleasure and satisfaction that my students get when they master a new skill, or put on a performance that they are truly proud of, is what makes teaching so rewarding for me. And I hope that the good experiences we have together, and the skills that I help my students develop, will lead my students to a lifelong love of music.
