Tutoring Experience:
Experienced high school teacher with over 6 years working in South Auckland and abroad. Have tutored for over 3 years, specialising in NCEA Science Level 1, Biology Level 2 and 3 and Physics Level 2.
Description:
Hi, I'm Roz. I'm an experienced (+6 years) high school science teacher, specialising in Biology which I currently teach at NCEA Level 3. I also teach NCEA level 1 science, and have extensive experience teaching Chemistry and Physics to this level. I am currently teaching full-time in a large South Auckland high school.

I am an enthusiastic teacher and tutor, and I am happy to let the student tell me how he or she learns best so I can adapt sessions to best suit their needs. I believe in independent learning and note-taking, and think a page of notes the student has made is worth far more than ten pages of printed notes from the tutor that will get skim-read at best!

I am also an experienced in exam marking and technique and will help students learn how to answer assessment questions correctly and understand what is expected from them by the examiner.

I am fluent in English, but have a lot of experience teaching ESOL students and helping them get to grips with the difficult vocabulary involved in biology and science.

I am happy to travel to the student's home or meet in a library or other suitable venue.

Tutor:Sean Caetano
Rating:rating (What's this?)
Gender:Male
Location:Auckland - North Shore
Price Range:$20-30 per hour
Education Level:Bachelor Degree
Institute:University of Auckland
Major:Mechanical Engineering
Subject:MathsLevel:Secondary(Form 3-5)
Subject:PhysicsLevel:Secondary(Form 6-7)
Subject:MathsLevel:Secondary(Form 6-7)
Tutoring Experience:
I have tutoured students in:
Form 5-7 Physics
Form 7 Calculus
Form 3-6 Maths
Description:
I completed my Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) at Auckland University this past year with First Class Honours and was also placed on the Dean's Honours List (top 5%).
I speak excellent English.
My style of tutoring is focusing on where the student is having trouble understanding specific areas of the syllabus, explaining the material in as simple terms as possible and then using the textbook, going through examples and previous exams with the students to help cement the concepts. I have been tutoring for quite a few years now and all my students show vast improvement throughout the year, some have moved from previously failing to merit and excellence level.

I don't mind meeting anywhere for tutoring, if the student finds it easier to concentrate in a library that is fine, else, usually home is more practical.

Through my engineering degree I have gained a much deeper understanding in maths and physics. I also took chemistry and geography up to year 13 so if you would like to ask a few extra questions during the tutorials on those subjects I would be happy to help.
