I have more than 30 years violin teaching experience. I have successfully taught and motivated students at all ages and levels both in Germany and here in New Zealand. My youngest student is 3,5 years old, the oldest one is 61 years old. Some of my students are beginners with no background in music, some are experienced musicians.
How I teach:
I enjoy making music and working with children and adults at all ages that range from beginners to advanced students.
I teach the classical technique of violin playing and I work with the Suzuki Method. I also teach the accompanying music theory.
I tailor the choice of music and the way of teaching to the needs and interests of my students.
I introduce my students to musical interaction at an early stage and let them play pieces together.
I think that apart from professional teaching and learning, playing an instrument must be fun and my students definitely enjoy playing the violin.
I am from Germany and I have been living in New Zealand for 8 years together with my wife who is a jewellery maker and designer.
I started playing the violin at the age of 5. I studied the violin at the Lübeck Academy of Music (Germany) with Professor Klaus-Dieter Dassow (violinist at the Symphony Orchestra of the Northern Germany Radio Station). I have profound orchestral experience as a violinist. I played with various orchestras and I was a member of the Cologne Orchestra Society.
I will shortly reside in Nelson and you can already contact me regarding violin lessons. I am happy to teach my students at their home.
In my free-time I do a lot of sports like swimming and jogging. Other fields of interests are psychology and playing chess. I love cooking and of course I am interested in all styles music!
