Tutor:Leonardo Allegri

- Since 2011 I have been teaching as a private teacher, through Skype or in person. I started by giving private lessons of philosophy, logic and English to university and high school students, both Italians and foreigners.

Over time I found more and more people interested in learning Italian, a language maybe less common than others but still incredibly important and fascinating for its cultural importance.

From a simple passion, teaching Italian quickly became a real profession.

- From 2014 to 2016 I worked for a Municipality near Milan as an Italian teacher in a class of adult people from different countries. I directed every aspect of the course, from the technical choices about the dates of the lessons and the goals of the course, to the didactic material of every lesson. During some lesson I also organized a group work for specific categories of students, in these occasions I collaborated with a couple of assistants.

I believe that the experience above described has been particularly important for my formation as a teacher, as it included many different aspects of what teaching a language can be: working with people of different ages and countries imply being able to change the teaching approach, and teaching to a class is obviously quite different from giving a private lesson.

- Since September 2016 I moved to New Zealand, here I started giving Italian lessons to local people, sometimes in cooperation with local Italian institutes and academies.

Knowing a language is surely not enough to teach it; at least two more things are needed:

- Firstly, you need to know how to teach a language. Concerning this point, I studied how to teach Italian as a foreign language or second language and obtained the CEDILS (certification of competence in teaching Italian as foreign language or second language), released by Universit Ca' Foscari of Venice.

- Secondly, you need to know what a language is, what is behind it and what it represents. I spent the last three years of my academic career studying Philosophy of Language and then developing my graduation thesis on the founder of Philosophy of Language: Ludwig Wittgenstein.
