Developed a new method for teaching Maori, using Power Point as the main tool for delivery, which I humbly called Ka Taea, or Achievable.
Using Micorsoft Power Point allows me the opportunity to teach, kanohi ki te kanohi, or face to face in a classroom environment or via the internet using a programme called VSEE.
VSEE works a lot like Skype. Both parties can see and talk to each other and the power point displays I use. Basically whatever is on my screen can be seen by the person I am teaching.
The focus of my teaching is on speaking first and foremost, although I do help all students with their reading and writing ability.
I cover the following areas:
Wetewete reo - grammatical structures
Mihimihi - art of acknowledgement (tane and wahine)
Whaikorero - art of acknowledgement (tane)
Karanga - welcoming call (wahine)
Whakatauki - proverbs
Tikanga and Kawa - protocols | | |
